Accessibility

The Daniel Boone Homestead is committed to welcoming all visitors, regardless of ability, and providing reasonable accommodations to those individuals in need of assistance.

Parking - We have parking lots throughout our park; located near the Visitors Center, Sawmill, Picnic Areas, DeTurk Education Center, and Wayside Lodge. There are handicap spaces located in all of our parking lots.

Trails - We have several trails located throughout the park. Trail maps are available at the Visitors Center. Our trails through the historic area are gravel trails, the trails around the Lake area dirt trails.

Restrooms - There are restrooms located at the Visitors Center (open Friday-Sunday only). There are porta-potties located at the North Picnic Area and South Picnic Area.

Rentals - Our North Picnic Area and Wayside lodge are handicap accessible. While you may rent out our DeTurk Education Center and South Picnic Area they are not accessible for those who have trouble walking.

Historic Building - Our Visitors Center is handicap accessible. Most of our historic buildings are a short distance from a parking lot along a gravel path. The inside of the Boone House and Bertolett Log Cabin is not accessible for those who are in a wheelchair. We have photos of the inside of all of our buildings in a notebook at The Visitors Center for visitors to look at.

Pets - Dogs are allowed in the park, however they must be on a leash at all times. They are not allowed in any of the buildings unless they are a service dog.
